‘Forest of Perception, Traces of Encounters’
This is an exhibition by 13 students in Masako Yasuki’s fourth year seminar at Kyoto Seika University Faculty of Art. This seminar brings together student artists who explore the use of physical materials to create pictorial works in the digital age. We stress the importance of mapping ourselves in relation to society, and charting our own positions in art history.
Creating physical artworks is in some ways similar to wandering deep into a forest. The habits of everyday life get left behind, and perceptions begin to shift. This exhibition aims to resonate with the perceptions that arise in such a forest, as we believe that the traces of these will help it grow richer and wider.
We look forward to seeing you at this exhibition of innovative physical painting and other diverse works in two dimensions.
