The TARTANS series, which the artist has been working on since 2010, draws on tartan plaid patterns from illustrated books published in the U.K. Titles such as BAIRD and HAY are derived from the names of the tartan plaid patterns. Each pattern is enlarged and painted on No. 80 canvas with oil paint, a painting knife, and masking tape.
During the exhibition we will publish an art catalog ‘TARTAN’ (200 eds. Limited) records KISHIDA Nagako’s artwork from 2010 to 2022.
