Using the walls and boundaries that separate things as a motif, I create works that take as their starting point the relationship with place. I actively incorporate change into my work, aiming to create a place with a sense of tension where the space and the work become one.
Walls and boundaries in my works are often to break through. The light adopting change penetrates the walls and connects the inside and outside. Whether it is to protect from the outside world or to confine something, when walls with various elements breached and change intervenes, we become re-aware of the “place” where we are standing. I would like to incorporate the hope and violence of this change, where something crosses the boundary, into my work.
