“Eyes Closed” Photo Exhibition Shiga⇔Kyoto, 2022 : Beyond boundaries
“Eyes Closed” Photo Exhibition is an opportunity for diverse people, regardless of age, gender, nationality, and disability, to reexamine their relationships with others, to feel invisible “connections,” and to create new “connections” through “closing the eyes” together. Over 2000 people have closed their eyes together. And the word “together” seems to include the idea that it is also important for participants to take pictures of each other. When you saw the face with eyes closed, you can see facial expressions that you wouldn’t normally see. And from that expression, you will be able to notice a new side of the person. Also, Closing the eyes is also a metaphor for tolerance and can be said to raise issues for modern society. Furthermore, just as meditation leads to prayer, the expression opens the eyes of the heart, stare at oneself, and is full of trust in others.
